As a dog who lives in Michigan, I am appalled to report that the Republican party in the state of Michigan wants to put teachers in jail if they use a computer at the school to send an email that has anything to do with their union. Of course, teachers using a school computer to update their Facebook account or play games is okay so it isn't that they are concerned about wasting "company time". I'm not quite sure why the Republican party is so scared of the unions. Unions are supposed to be about fair wages and safe working conditions. I suppose most of the Republicans would rather have slaves teaching the children. That would be an advantage for them since slaves could teach the students to be good slaves for future business owners. You don't have to agree with a dog about this issue, but there is one thing that bothers me, and that is just a common sense fact. Considering that Michigan has considered releasing prisoners early due to overcrowding, it doesn't make any sense to put teachers in jail and possibly end up costing the state a lot of extra money not to mention the possibility of having to let murderers and rapists go free. If this is the kind of "common sense" coming from the Republican party, then they have none.

Only Real Enemy: BIRDS!!!
Today marks the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War in the United States. Of course, tension had been building up for a long time prior to the shots fired at Fort Sumter. The fort had been under siege-like conditions for months prior to the attack. The south wanted to secede from the United States, and the north wanted to keep the union intact. Before the whole thing was over, a lot of people died and many people were wounded. If you ask my opinion, the whole thing was a waste. This is why I think that all warfare should be directed at the real arch enemy of the planet--BIRDS!!! I don't like them, and I think they are only useful as snack food. Once again, they have stolen my snow. Just a few months ago, a dog could go out and enjoy a yard full of lovely, white, cold snow. Now the birds have stolen it yet again and are singing about their triumph as I write this blog. I speak fluent bird, and their main song is "ha ha, I stole the dogs' snow". I can't even go and bite them because my humans (typical of their species) don't appreciate how horrible the birds really are. They think they are cute and sing sweet songs. I only wish the humans could speak bird as I do. Then they would not be fooled by the birds and their songs. However, on the original topic of the anniversary of the Civil War, it is sad when the humans decide to fight each other no matter where they are or what it is about. Maybe one day they will realize that and learn to get along with each other. If a dog and cat can get along, then there is hope for the humans. Demon Flash Bandit (War is Stupid)

Play Poker With Dogs!
In a past blog, I talked about the wonderful paintings of dogs playing poker. Sadly, most of us can't afford to own these original paintings due to their cost. I'm still trying to save enough money to buy one for myself. I know I could hang a reproduction, but I'm a dog who happens to be an art connoisseur, and as such, I want the real thing. This is why I have good news for my readers today. There is a game on the Internet that involves playing poker with 4 dogs. The dogs names are Rex, Puddles, Fido, and Spot. Yes, if you play this game, it is like being part of the painting, and what could be better than that? For those who are interested in playing this game, the site address is:
http://gamescene.com/Dogs_Playing_Poker.html
I don't know if playing it is free or not since I just discovered it today so be sure and check on that sort of thing if you decide to play. Since you are playing dogs, you have to remember that they are probably very good poker players and will probably win if you are a mere human.
I have a letter to share with my readers from one of my many celebrity friends. This time it is from the Trix Rabbit.
Dear Demon Flash Bandit,
I want to let you know that I got some Trix cereal today. Do those children really think they can keep a rabbit from getting some delicious Trix cereal? As you know, dogs and rabbits are so much more intelligent than the humans. I wanted to ask you if there are any paintings of bunnies playing poker. I would like to hang something like that in my hutch.
Love, The Trix Rabbit
P.S. Trix cereal is delicious!
No, to my knowledge, there are no paintings of rabbits playing poker.
The rabbit and I have been pals for years, and it is always good to hear from him.
Governor Scott Walker, managed to get his legislation passed taking the bargaining rights away from the union that represents the public employees of Wisconsin. Police and firefighters are exempt, and continue to have bargaining rights. Also the legislature, the ones who overspent in the first place, aren't taking pay cuts. It is amazing how hypocritical some of the humans in power can be. One day, when they meet the "Person" who is really in charge, I'm glad I won't be in their booties.

The World Needs to Have Dogs in Charge
This dog wants to go on record as supporting the labor unions for the public workers in Wisconsin. I notice that whenever a company or a government is in financial trouble, they want to blame their mistakes on their employees. However, in the state of Wisconsin, according to what I read, the state has a deficit of 3.6 billion dollars and the concessions that they want from the union will save them 300 million dollars. I know that 300 million will help, but it sounds like only the tip of the iceberg to me. Who is actually responsible for the state not having enough money? Isn't that the fault of the people running the state, which is the legislature who is blaming the unions? Sure, I know that there is a recession, and many states are not getting the tax dollars they once received, but the working people are the ones who spend their money on survival. The rich humans at the top are the ones who can hoard their money because they don't need it. In addition, I did not see one item in the news about any of the people in the legislature wanting to cut their salaries even though they are essentially the one who spent the money that shouldn't have been spent. It seems to this dog that particularly in a recession, the best thing to do to get out of it is to make sure people are working and earning money. I'm sure most of the unions will be willing to make concessions if asked--the auto workers have done it when the companies are in financial trouble, but they agreed to it--it was not forced on them.
Unions aren't perfect. In fact, very little in this world is perfect because it is being run by humans. I still wonder why dogs aren't running things, but I think it is because if we were in charge, things would be so much better that it would make the humans fell like utter failures. The thing that bothers me is the lack of simple common sense among the humans. (I like to call it common dog sense.) If unions didn't exist, many of the humans working at jobs that don't have unions wouldn't make as much. The employers do have to compete in the labor market, and if you think the companies want to pay their employees more, I have a non evil bird I want to sell you. It is an employers job to pay as little as necessary. Sure, there are some that are more generous than others, but basically, they watch the profit margin and that is their bottom line. This is why so many jobs are being outsourced from the United States to other countries. I don't like this because, in my opinion, they are taking jobs away from people here and they are taking unfair advantage of other countries citizens, which often ends up resulting in resentment and even war. There are some humans who will never have enough money. They can have more money than they could ever spend, and it still won't be enough--and these are the humans who are usually rich and in charge. If you think they are watching out for their fellow humans, you are mistaken. I still say that the world would be a better place with dogs in charge. We don't worry about accumulating stuff. We just want food, treats, some toys, a tummy rub, and we are happy. We know what is important in life. The humans really don't understand what the important things in life really are which is probably why so many of them are unhappy.

Why Does a Dog Have to Get up so Early?
The human woke me to write this blog, and I'm not even sure if the sun is out yet. Does she realize it is only 12:30 pm? No wonder I need naps throughout the day when I'm awakened so early to write my blog. Do the humans have nothing better to do than wake a dog? Next they will be expecting a husky to pull a human around in a sled. Don't the humans here realize this dog has better things to do? I have decided to get a college degree in napping so I am trying to do my homework! You would think they would appreciate a dog trying to improve himself.
Speaking of improvement, my human was watching the first season of Caprica. If you ask my opinion, the show might not have been cancelled if they had been "inventing" a robot dog instead of a robot "human". How do they expect to get the audience to watch if there aren't enough dogs on the show. I do applaud them having a dog on the show, but the dog should have been the star instead of having such a small part.
I spent some time yesterday admiring my tail, which happens to be lovely. We huskies do have pretty tails. I bet the humans are jealous that they don't have tails like us dogs. I better stop mentioning it since, if there are humans reading this, I would hate to make them feel bad about not having a tail.
Now that I have written some stuff, I can get back to my nap. Pleasant dreams everyone.

My Ancient Egyptian Pal, Gahiji
Hello to my readers, and I hope all of you are enjoying a pleasant Sunday which for some reason makes me think of a song performed by the Monkees--Another Pleasant Valley Sunday. I wonder why I would connect the two. I suppose it is another example of my brilliant thinking.
As my readers from Dogster.com are already aware, I have a collection of ancient blogs by early dogs. One of my favorites is Gahiji, an ancient Egyptian dog. I found Gahiji's blog at a garage sale, which is where I find most of my ancient antiquities. Today I will share one of Gahiji's blogs with you.
Gahiji:
It is another super hot day here in ancient Egypt. It is almost time for Habibah, my human to come home from work. Habibah works for the Pharaoh building a Pyramid. He spends much of his time at work and at home complaining about his job. He should have listened to his mother and went to college, but Habibah wasn't exactly the smartest guy to graduate from ancient Egyptian High School. We are best friends, and he likes to spend all the time he can with me, but that isn't always as much as both of us would like. After work, Habibah has been attending union organizing meetings. I hope the union is successful because Habibah could use some job security. Don't get me wrong--Habibah does okay work, but if the Pharaoh should find him writing some of the graffiti on the Pyramids, there is going to be trouble. Yesterday, he wrote: The Mummy Needs to Get a Life---yes he is hilarious, and if you didn't notice, I am being sarcastic. I just know if he gets caught, the Pharaoh will fire him or have him beheaded--whichever is worse. I'm hoping we will go and visit his mother this weekend. He has some laundry for her to do because that is women's work. Men have more important things to do--like the contest down at the local bar to see which of the humans can burp the loudest. Do I smell a trophy for Habibah coming on? I know Habibah might not be the most intelligent guy in the world, but he does have his talents and loud burping is one of them.
I hope all my readers are having a good weekend.
