Buck the Dog, Star of Married With Children

My human has been watching the old television program, Married With Children. Few television shows have the intelligence to star a dog. Buck was quite a dog, and he made the show worth watching. I think it is a shame that, even though he was the star, he was not given top billing. It shows that Hollywood has a long way to go when dealing with dogs who star in their movies and television programs. I always love it when Buck is given a steak while Al, the human gets nothing. Personally, I think us dogs should eat first and give our leftovers to the humans. I have barked with other dogs, and all of them agree with me on this subject.

Happy St. Patrick's Day and Blog Contest

Happy St. Patricks Day to all my readers and may you have all the bones your heart desires! It is a very warm day here where I live which is kind of unusual for my area so my humans are enjoying it. Personally, I would prefer it be cold.

For those of you who have seen the movie, Inception, this blog reminds me of that movie. I was taking a nap yesterday, and I dreamed that I was taking a nap. In my dream, I was also taking a nap. I might add that it was a really good nap, and I woke up feeling completely refreshed--like I had a really good nap--or naps if you count the naps I was dreaming about. It is so much better than dreaming about doing stuff and waking up tired after sleeping.

Now it is time to talk about my blog topic for the day. The big sled dog race in Alaska, Iditarod has just occurred, and because I am a "sled dog", I find this race very exciting. I have never pulled a sled or taken part in such a contest, but a dog can dream. Today I was napping and I dreamed that I was running in the big Iditarod race. I took about 10 steps, my paws got cold, I decided I wanted to get a bite to eat so I jumped in the nearest car and drove to McDonalds where I ordered some burgers. Yes, it was a good dream. I have decided that racing in snow is not fun thanks to that dream. Besides a dog can get his paws dirty doing things like that.

Celebrating Paczki Day

Today is paczki day in the Detroit, Michigan metropolitan area. Yes, the day that the Polish people who settled here make a delicious doughnut for "Fat Tuesday". This dog plans to have at least one paczki in my paws before the day it over. I have an elaborate plan in place in case the humans say they aren't for dogs. I plan to wear my hat and my Superman cape. No one can refuse to give Superman a paczki. This is when my blue eyes come in handy since the humans don't expect a dog to have blue eyes. Sure, my humans know I have blue eyes, but my plan is to visit all the neighbors and get a paczki from each of them. They don't call it Fat Tuesday for nothing. The best thing about the situation is that I don't have to give up anything for Lent. If I did, I would just give up some fur because I'm always shedding it everywhere anyway so it isn't much of a sacrifice. Giving up something you love doesn't sound like fun.

I was browsing the Internet for some interesting tidbits from the news and I found the most depressing contest ever. A radio station in Aschaffenberg, Germany is having a contest in which the prize is a check for $4,200. that MUST be spent on death insurance. It seems kind of silly to me since I thought death is one of those inevitable things to happen. To win the prize, the entrants must come up with the most clever epitaph for their tombstone. I'm waiting to see if the epitaph, "I won the contest so I can die now" will be one of the clever entries. The amazing fact is that over 600 people have entered the contest. If you ask this dog, it sounds like the people who live there must not be having much fun in their lives because this is a contest that this dog wouldn't bother to enter. Of course, I have no plans to cross over the bridge. I plan to stay and enjoy important events like "Paczki Day" forever.

My Ancient Egyptian Pal, Gahiji

Hello to my readers, and I hope all of you are enjoying a pleasant Sunday which for some reason makes me think of a song performed by the Monkees--Another Pleasant Valley Sunday. I wonder why I would connect the two. I suppose it is another example of my brilliant thinking.

As my readers from Dogster.com are already aware, I have a collection of ancient blogs by early dogs. One of my favorites is Gahiji, an ancient Egyptian dog. I found Gahiji's blog at a garage sale, which is where I find most of my ancient antiquities. Today I will share one of Gahiji's blogs with you.

Gahiji:
It is another super hot day here in ancient Egypt. It is almost time for Habibah, my human to come home from work. Habibah works for the Pharaoh building a Pyramid. He spends much of his time at work and at home complaining about his job. He should have listened to his mother and went to college, but Habibah wasn't exactly the smartest guy to graduate from ancient Egyptian High School. We are best friends, and he likes to spend all the time he can with me, but that isn't always as much as both of us would like. After work, Habibah has been attending union organizing meetings. I hope the union is successful because Habibah could use some job security. Don't get me wrong--Habibah does okay work, but if the Pharaoh should find him writing some of the graffiti on the Pyramids, there is going to be trouble. Yesterday, he wrote: The Mummy Needs to Get a Life---yes he is hilarious, and if you didn't notice, I am being sarcastic. I just know if he gets caught, the Pharaoh will fire him or have him beheaded--whichever is worse. I'm hoping we will go and visit his mother this weekend. He has some laundry for her to do because that is women's work. Men have more important things to do--like the contest down at the local bar to see which of the humans can burp the loudest. Do I smell a trophy for Habibah coming on? I know Habibah might not be the most intelligent guy in the world, but he does have his talents and loud burping is one of them.

Today I have a big announcement for my readers. I will be giving away a a DVD with 9 episodes of the television series, White Fang. This is the story of a boy and his wolf dog, and it takes place in the Rockies. Move over Lassie because this dog is just as helpful as Lassie, but he reminds me of looking at myself in a mirror, and I like to look at myself in a mirror. Now you know what my blog topic for today is about: being a professional dog. We all know that there are regular ball players who play the game because it is fun, but you have the pros who play the game to make money and it is their profession. I happen to be talented at being a dog, and I'm a real pro at it. Being a dog is a lot harder than it sounds. You have to learn when to bark, whine, give the sad, puppy dog face to get treats, and some dogs even have to do tricks to get treats. That doesn't work around here. Mommy was teaching Angel Zoom Smokey to "shake" and Angel will shake, but she keeps looking around and she told me she is getting tired of looking for milkshakes that never appear. Did I mention that both Angel Zoom Smokey and myself like ice cream?



I am so good at being a dog that I plan to start a school for other dogs training them to be a more professional dog. Some dogs are really getting the short end of the stick, but they are so excited about getting a stick that they let the humans take over. We dogs are the ones in charge, and some dogs forget that. This is why I am starting my school for dogs. I will teach them that they are really in charge and show them how to get the humans to do things their way. I plan to call it the Demon Flash Bandit School For Sophisticated Dogs.
