Movie Review: Dr. Seuss' The Lorax

Today I am going to do a movie review of Dr. Seuss' The Lorax. This movie stars Danny DeVito as the Lorax, who is guardian of the forest who speaks for the trees. Personally, I think the trees would have been better off if they had learned to speak for themselves like the trees in The Lord of the Rings. However, these trees kept quiet while they were being cut down. Perhaps a well timed, don't cut me down, might have scared off the lumberjacks who destroyed them. Anyway, this movie is about a time when all the trees are gone, and everyone lives in a town where everything is "artificial" which means they must have filmed it in Las Vegas, Nevada. It was a good movie particularly when it is hard to turn a Dr. Seuss book into a regular length movie because his books are meant for children, and therefore are not lengthy. However, the message of the book is good. If all the trees were gone, what would us dogs have to water? I can't spoil the ending so you will just have to watch the movie if you want to know how it ended.

Trees Need Cutting

I want my readers to know that it made this dog feel so good about the royal family in Great Britain when I saw the photos of Pippa Middleton, Kate's sister, wearing a "lumberjack" inspired outfit probably to work. I think it is wonderful that Pippa is ready to roll up her sleeves and do some real work--I guess those forests in England must be getting out of hand and it is good to see someone with such a close connection to the royal family who is willing to get out there and do some logging. Perhaps she should have considered a different pair of shoes. Since I don't wear shoes, I'm no expert, but I don't think high heels are a wise move to work cutting trees in the forest. Trees Being Bothered By Birds

As a dog, I take my job of keeping the forests watered very seriously--as do all my fellow dogs. This is particularly true of dogwood trees. Any tree that wants to be a dog gets special attention from the canines. As I was watering one of the dogwood trees yesterday, I noticed that the dogwood tree, as all other trees, was being annoyed by birds. Birds were sitting on its branches and when I asked the tree if the birds had a deed to the branch, the tree said the bird did not. The birds just take over like the tree branches belong to them without even consulting with a tree estate agent or anything. Meanwhile, the tree just stands there unable to do anything to stop the evil bird from hanging out there or even building a nest on a branch because trees can't move. This is one reason that I, Demon Flash Bandit, have infiltrated Twitter. I wasn't anxious to join a site that has a stupid bird as its logo, but I realized that by being on Twitter, I can be a dog spy in the war against birds. I hope that someday a dogwood tree-or any other tree-can stand proud and not worry about a feathered varmint bothering it. He is a funny guy who thinks that just because the cobra and the peacock have escaped from the Bronx Zoo that he will be able to escape too. Goldie and the Three Dogs

Once upon a time there was a little blond human girl who was wandering through the forest. She was in the forest because she was such a brat that when she went out to play, her parents moved away. They had a mobile home so they took the home with them leaving her homeless.

Meanwhile a family of 3 super nice dogs decided to leave their house and go for a walk. Goldie (that was the girl's name) found the house and the let herself in. As I said, she never followed proper protocol--she didn't even knock. She was hungry and she saw some food on the table. She tried the first dish, and she thought it was too spicy. (It was the Daddy Dog's dinner.) Then she tried the second dish, and it was too plain. (It was the Mommy Dog's dinner.) Finally she tried the third dish, and it was just right so she ate all of it. (It was the Puppy's dinner.)

Then she decided to watch television. She watched the one in the living room which was the one the Daddy Dog liked to watch. It's volume was too loud. Then she tried the one in the master bedroom which the Mommy dog liked to watch, and she could barely hear it. Then she tried the one in the Puppy's bedroom and it was just right--so she loaded it on a cart to take with her.

Then she decided to take a nap. The Daddy Dog's Bed was too big. The Mommy Dog's bed was also too big, and the Puppy's bed was just right so she took a nap and then loaded it on the cart along with the television.

The dogs came home from their walk and they noticed that their stuff had been tampered with, and the Puppy was very upset because all his stuff was gone. The dogs called the police, and they found Goldie trying to pawn the Dog Family's stuff and now Goldie is serving a prison sentence for being a thief.

Finally, a good fairy tale told from the point of view of a family of dogs!
