Although I don't pull a sled, my breed is a working breed that was bred for pulling sleds in the frozen north. This means that I LOVE snow and ice. I don't just LOVE it, I L-O-V-E it!!! This is why I am very excited about finding this product on the Internet. It is a powder that makes snow! Yes, you can have snow even in hot months like August with this super wonderful product. The ad does not say if it is cold or not, but an hour or two in a refrigerator or freezer should take care of that problem if it is not already cold. Imagine the wonderful feel of snow on your paws, the fun of getting it on your nose. I am ready to place an order now. I just have to go and get that plastic thing out of my human's purse. For those who love snow as much as I do, here is the address:

Of course, it may be on back-order since I plan to buy all they have. It isn't everyday that I find such a "cool" product on the Internet.
I was looking at the Internet news and I ran across this little gem of an article. It is an item for sale on ebay which, according to the seller, is the actor Nicholas Cage, when he was alive during the U.S. Civil War. Here is the article for those who want to see it for themselves.
http://blog.moviefone.com/2011/09/16/nicolas-cage-19th-century-photo-ebay/
He is asking a large sum for the photo, but I wouldn't buy it. I have noticed that humans, very much like dogs, have other humans who look a lot like them. I think it was probably someone who just had a resemblance to Cage, but not the Cage living today. However, you can't blame the seller for hoping that some idiot will buy the photo and pay him the price he is seeking. If an art museum can sell invisible art (which I have covered in a previous blog), why not a photo of someone who looked like Nicholas Cage who lived a long time ago. It might even be an ancestor which could explain the resemblance--or would that be too sane for the seller?

Career Planning
Since I'm a Siberian Husky, I was bred to pull the humans and/or their equipment on sleds. This is a very important job if you live in an area where there is lots of snow, and vehicles have problems getting around. Personally, I have never pulled a sled, and I think that riding in the car is cool so I don't think I'm missing anything by not doing that job. In fact, I have another career watching out for my humans (heaven knows they don't have enough sense to watch out for themselves), working on my blog, my diary on dogster.com, and my blogs on http://www.silverscreenhub.com/ . I also try to herd my humans into their proper spot in the house so I can nap. That might sound like an easy job, but it is not. The humans tend to be uncooperative. For example, yesterday, my human brother took off with his friend instead of staying home with me. He didn't even ask my permission to go!!! I think that was very rude behavior. Anyway, other dogs have been bred for certain jobs too. Border collies and German Shepherds herd cattle and sheep. Pointers, labradors, retreivers, etc. were bred for hunting. Shih Tzus and Pomeranians were bred to be cute. Chihuahuas were bred to bark all the time. However, some dogs, like myself do not need to do the jobs we were bred to do so that is why I have other jobs that I do. This means that many of us dogs have to choose a career when we are a puppy. I know this is a tough decision. Whether to go on to college, just finish high school or even drop out of high school....these are all very big decisions. I thought I would do some research and make a suggestion based on my interviews with many differing dogs and their careers to see which career seemed best suited for the average dog and which they enjoyed the most. The paws down favorite was working on a garbage truck. Whether you are lucky enough to drive the truck or you happen to be the dog hanging by your paws on the back of the truck, it is a favorite among the dogs I interviewed. Of course, it does take a bit longer for them to do a garbage route than the humans because they have to stop and inspect each garbage bag. This is one reason it is such a cool job for a dog. You would not believe the goodies thrown away by the humans...left over food that is still delicious, bones, and even fun things that can be easily recycled into dog toys. I know many dogs who enjoy the "perks" of the job. One of my doggy pals, Hank* works on a garbage truck and he is one dog who really loves his job. He also benefits from the perks of the job. He has his wife follow his truck and at each stop, he loads the good stuff in her pickup truck. He keeps some of the garbage and his wife puts the rest on ebay. He has an ebay store called Dog's Pick of the Garbage, which is highly popular among us dogs. I myself have purchased many things from their store. Hank is a power seller, and has rave reviews from his buyers. I'll share one with you, and, keep in mind, this is a typical feedback for Hank. "Loved the Kleenex...they had the most interesting snot on them....A+++++ seller". As you can see, Hank has done well for himself, and the garbage truck job did not require a college education. Meanwhile, another dog, Jack*, chose to become a doctor. Did you know that Hank has managed to make just as much money as Jack because those perks really add up? If you are reading this and trying to make a career decision, I highly recommend the garbage truck job. If I didn't already have so much to do, I'd think about applying for that job myself.

I'm Waiting for my Royalty Check
Reese's Peanutbutter cups are airing a commercial from which I am expecting a royalty check. It says that only bad thing about Howloween is giving away your Reeses Peanutbutter cups. I've been saying that every Howloween since I was a puppy so it is my intellectual property. Knowing the human justice system, I will be cheated out of my royalty checks simply because I'm a dog. Most great inventions have been the result of dogs. Do you really think humans are smart enough to think of these things? They just sit back and wait for their dogs to invent something and then they take it from their dog. Howloween always annoys me. I enjoy seeing the human puppies come by dressed in their costumes, but I see no need in letting them steal my candy just because they are wearing a costume. The humans even say chocolate is bad for you (not that all Howloween candy is chocolate), but the humans will say anything to keep some foods for themselves, and chocolate is way to popular with the humans for them to want to give it to their dogs. Anyway, I will be checking the mailbox everyday for my royalty check.
Mommy was cleaning out my human brother's closet and I came up with a brilliant idea--why not give the trick or treaters old clothes, books, etc. instead of candy. They can go home and list the stuff on Ebay and learn to make their own money instead of stealing my candy. I told Mommy my genius plan, and she still donated the clothing anyway. I don't think the humans would know a genius plan if it bit them on the butt. My idea would help the little deadbeats learn to make money and pull their weight in their homes. Some of these children are 3 and 4 and still have no job--they are just staying home and living off their parents. I would teach them to be little business humans, and the Howloween candy would still be here for Angel Zoom Smokey and myself to confiscate.
I had better go and check the mail. Until tomorrow.....

Ebay: The Place I Look for Ancient Antiquities
Today I read a wonderful story on Pawnation about a young King Charles Cavalier Spaniel named Ellie, who is blind, and Leo, the German Shepherd who has voluntarily became her seeing eye dog. Leo is such a sweet dog to watch out for his little friend. They are hoping to raise enough money to do surgery so Ellie can see again, but until then, I am happy she has Leo to watch out for her.
I also write a diary entry on http://www.dogster.com/ everyday (to read it, you just put my name, Demon Flash Bandit, into the search engine on dogster). I have not mentioned Gahiji on this blog, but Gahiji is an ancient Egyptian dog who lives with his human, Habibah, in ancient Egypt. I sometimes share his diaries on Dogster, and since I don't want to do a lot of repeating, I probably won't share his entries on here. However, I am mentioning it to tell you what wonderful treasures you can find on Ebay. Yes, that is where I got Gahiji's diary. You can imagine my excitement when I saw that there was an ancient dog diary listed and at a very reasonable price that I couldn't resist. Usually you have to go to a garage sale to find ancient antiquities of comparable quality. I do have a collection of ancient dog diaries. It seems that dogs have been observing and commenting on their lives for centuries now. Anyway, there is no end to the unusual items a dog can find on Ebay. For example, last October, you could buy a haunted hotel in New Mexico. I don't think it sold, but I can't understand why--who wouldn't want to own a haunted hotel? Today I found a couple of interesting items because, it takes a dog to find the interesting stuff. For a starting bid of $8.99, you can own an acre of real estate on the moon. It turns out that due to a treaty among the nations at the United Nations, no govt. can own land on the moon so this would be perfect for those who are fed up with big government and taxes. I'm surprised many of the tea party supporters haven't already bought up large parcels--and the land is such a bargain. All you have to do is get over that little no oxygen and gravity problem. However, to be able to live tax free--it has to be a dream come true for a lot of humans. Let's not forget the more important items that can be purchased. There is 2 bids on "happiness: which is up to $1.02. You would think humans would be willing to pay more for happiness, but my humans aren't bidding on this item either. I think they are a bit too cynical to think that a certificate that says you are happy won't work. For my readers who aren't as cynical, if you act fast, you might be the high bidder for a lifetime of happiness--okay maybe it does have a time limit. I have to admit that I didn't read the entire description. There are so many cool things on Ebay including 2 items that caught my eye thanks to Gahiji. One is a Stargate model of Ra, and one is a mummy model kit. To be fair, they didn't catch my eye on Ebay because they are sitting in the computer room but they are listed on Ebay. I might add that Tails of the Tundra, a Siberian husky rescue group in Pennsylvania will be having one of their fund raising auctions on ebay so, if you like huskies, it is worth checking out their items. They usually have a lot of cool husky themed stuff. The last time Mommy got several things including a door hanger that says "Husky Escape Route". How did they know?
