Interests and Hobbies

I'm sure many of my readers are wondering what I do in my spare time so I have decided to give you a glimpse of the Demon Flash Bandit lifestyle. My major hobby is napping. I try to work in as many naps everyday as possible. I know it is hard to imagine that I could be even more important than I already am, but in my dreams, I am more important than in my everyday awake life.

Another of my hobbies is to keep Angel Zoom Smokey, the other Siberian husky who lives in the same house with me, in line. If a dog like myself doesn't do it, she will be zooming around acting like a crazy dog. I warned the humans not put Zoom in her name, but as usual, they did not listen.

I also like to lick my paw. It happens to be a very delicious paw, and licking it is fun. I spend some of my time practicing music with the Howling Huskies. I am the lead howler of the group! I also like to eat--preferably hamburgers. I usually find some time during the day to chew on a dingo bone, or a regular rawhide bone if the humans haven't spent the extra money on the dingo brand of rawhide.

I write my diary on www.dogster.com, and then I write my blog and it is time for bed. A dog has to get some sleep between naps!

Turn Up the Volume Please!!!!!

Have any of you attended a "silent disco"? If you are wondering what a silent disco happens to be, it is a dance where all the humans dancing are wearing headphones so that the music is not heard except by the dancers wearing their headphones. I'm not quite sure the purpose for not having music except that it gives the humans the chance to sing along with the music so it isn't actually silent because you just have the voices of the unprofessional singers to listen if you are a spectator. Of course, if you have on headphones, you probably can't hear yourself sing--which I'm sure is a blessing to many of the dancers taking part-not so much a blessing for the spectators who are just watching. Am I the only one who wonders how this craze got started? If I were betting, I would put my money on the headphone industry. They stand to sell a lot more headphones for events like a silent disco. To give you an example of silent disco, here is a video of an event:

This dog has no plans to attend any of these events. I happen to be in the singing group, The Howling Huskies, and we like our music to be heard by everyone. Of course, we are dogs singing so we are fantastic.

My Pal's Book and Three Dog Night

My friend Raja, a shih tzu, has written a book featuring the history and story of the shih tzu breed. This book can be ordered from the site, http://www.traveldogbooks.com/ You can read more about the book on the site. By the way, my photo is in the book so I'm wondering if I am going to have to wear sunglasses to avoid being mobbed by pupparazzi.

I decided to watch a video concert performed by Three Dog Night. When 3 dogs make up a band, you know it has to be great. I am wondering why they became such good pals with that bullfrog named Jeremiah. I have never met a frog, but frogs don't seem to be the kind of species with which a dog would want to be friends. The last time I watched one of the dog's concerts, I was a bit disappointed because I didn't see the dogs. I suppose they were taking a Milkbone break. Last night I watched a different video, and they were 3 dogs short---AGAIN!!! This time I stayed awake to make sure the dogs came back from their break, and they never did! The band was just another bunch of humans--no doubt trying to get an audience by pretending to be dogs. I wrote about doggy impawsters recently. I suppose it must be more of a problem than I realized. Angel Zoom Smokey and myself are in a band called the Howling Huskies, and you can be sure that it is an all dog band--no humans are used in the making of our music. We happen to have very high standards. I think Spiderman summed it up when he said, "with great 'paw'er comes great re'paw'nsibility.

I would like to mention that it is National Mutt Day. All dogs are special--whether pedigreed or not.

Dueling Howls

Some of you may be familiar with the idea of duels. Duels were more common in earlier times, and they were a way for humans to settle a problem by using combat between two individuals. Humans have abandoned the idea of dueling now except in the musical world where you will occasionally hear dueling banjos, which were quite popular in the movie Deliverance. I think that it is better to duel with music since no one gets hurt. The dueling banjos have made this dog realize that if I ever have problems with another dog, I can settle it peacefully with the musical method. We can have Dueling Howls. As a member of the musical group, the Howling Huskies, I am very good at howling, and I'm sure I would win. The best part is I bet there would be a cute girl dog waiting to congratulate me for my win with a big sloppy kiss. Yes, some things can be improved with time, and dueling music is one example of how the world has gotten better.

Howling Huskies--Dog Band That Rocks

As a talented dog and also a member of the rock group, the Howling Huskies, I want to let other musical dogs know that there are guitars that are smaller than the usual size--perfect for children and more importantly, DOGS. To think that for years, a dog couldn't get the proper size guitar so the only dog musicians were the big ones like the Great Danes. Great Danes are wonderful musicians, but most other dogs just aren't big enough to play a regular size adult guitar. I happened to find a website that sells small guitars and I want to share it with my readers. The web address is:
http://www.smallguitars.com/

My personal favorite is the strat style because it looks like my human brother's guitar. Before I got into the Howling Huskies, I was just a regular dog who napped, played with toys, and took the occasional walk. However, I always have loved music, and I would sing along when I heard music. Then Angel Zoom Smokey, another Siberian Husky came to live here, and we decided to from our own rock band. We play for various dog events in the area--weddings, dances, obedience proms, etc. There is nothing like the joy of looking out into the crowd and seeing so many happy faces enjoying our music. I would encourage all dogs to pursue their dreams. For one dog, it might be buying that guitar you have always wanted; and for another dog, it might be taking that human food off the table. Whatever your dreams, Demon Flash Bandit hopes you are happy.
